Between the Lakes

Between the Lakes
I really enjoy kayaking and there is a favorite spot that is between 2 lakes close to my home, Crystal and Panther. Many trees fall into this waterway and make excellent places for small animals and much plant life. Of course, when I find a place I like, I have to put it on canvas. This one turned out quite well. I hope you like it.

Wild Cat River
Summer is here and I’ve been busy with gardening, kayaking and having fun. Thought you’d like to see my latest endeavor. This spring I went to New Hampshire to a town called Jackson where this river rages after the snows melt. It was a beautiful sight and of course I had to put it to paint. I hope you like it. Let me know!

Blue Bridge
20X24 WILLIAMSBURG OILS ON STRETCHED CANVAS. LOTS OF FINE DETAIL AND COOL TONES WITH A HINT OF WARMTH SET THE SCENE FOR THIS WINTER LANDSCAPE. I WAS LOOKING AT THE WORK OF A WONDERFUL LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHER ON ETSY WHEN ONE PHOTO CAUGHT MY INTEREST. IT WAS OF THE HEMLOCK CREEK BRIDGE. I ASKED PATTY IF SHE WOULD ALLOW ME TO USE HER PHOTO TO WORK FROM. SHE AGREED AND I WENT TO WORK. THE PHOTO IS A STARTING POINT AND INSPIRATION. I ALMOST NEVER PAINT EXACTLY THE SCENE I SEE BUT MAKE IT MY OWN.
PLEASE GO TO PATTY’S ETSY STORE AT: http://www.etsy.com/shop/CountryDreaming TO COMPARE PATTY’S PHOTO AND MY PAINTING AND CHECK OUT THE REST OF HER WORK. I THINK YOU WILL FIND BOTH OUR WORKS ARE WORTH YOUR WHILE!

Sugar Maples
The maples are running with sap now, and have been for the past couple of weeks. This is a sure sign of spring. Buds are swelling, flowers are emerging from the ground and we all feel a sense of rebirth. What a wonderful time of the year!

Cumberland Sunset
We are in the middle of winter but the snow pack is lessening, the days are growing longer and a hint of spring is in the air. This is a beautiful area in our corner of Maine and I love the view.
Winter Stream, the Maine View

Winter Stream, the Maine View
It is the middle of the winter. It’s cold at night, but the days are beautiful; deep blue skies, the crunch of the snow, crisp temperatures and the warming sun. Promise of spring in the air as the days begin to lengthen. I paint every day now. I have a few students who come weekly and I enjoy showing how I make the magic on canvas happen. Once summer returns, my paintings become lighter and more impressionistic as I spend more days outside and evenings become my time to retreat to the studio. Except, of course, on those days when I take canvas and paint to the lakes and beaches and paint plein aire. Every season has it’s beauty. See my etsy site for all the newest works I’ve done. I hope you like seeing them as much as I like creating them.

Evening Walk
Now that the days are much shorter, nights much colder, we all get into hibernation mode. Every once in a while, a walk in the evening with my dog, helps to chase away any thoughts of not enjoying this time of the year.
To all our friends and relatives, far and near, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and the happiest New Year!

Morning Magic
I have a one man show at our local library which has been very well received. One of the favorites during the opening night was Morning Magic, one of my favorites as well. The autumn colors in my neck of the woods is gone now. Winter is starting to creep in but my mind always return to that last vision of warm weather and the beautiful colors of autumn.

Amelia
I have always been a fan of Amelia Earhart and I’m really looking forward to the movie. This is a painting of her last flight and the last anyone has ever seen her. The Ford pick-up crew filmed the take-off as the heavily loaded plane just cleared the waves at the end of the runway. Next stop, Howland Island!
